All About Allergies

An allergy occurs when a normally harmless substance is perceived as a threat by the body, which mounts a response. It can take many forms, including sneezing, coughing, runny nose, and rash. Allergies also can often bring on asthma symptoms.

Some allergies, such as pollen, are seasonal, while others, such as pet dander, occur year-round. The tendency to have allergies is often inherited.
