Armadillos

Related to anteaters and sloths, armadillos are mammals with an armor of scaly plates covering their entire bodies. The world’s 20 armadillo species all live in Latin America; only the nine-banded armadillo appears in the U.S.

Armadillos make up for poor eyesight with a keen sense of smell. Sensory hairs along the edge of their shells help them find their way around.
