Humans have a complex digestive system that takes the food we eat on a journey. Along the way, enzymes, acids, and other chemicals break down food to get the maximum amount of nutrients into the body via the small intestine.

Matter the body can’t use “leaves the building” as waste, after having excess water and salts removed by absorption in the large intestine.
