Our planet is packed with valuable minerals that we use and depend on. We obtain minerals by mining, or extracting, them from the Earth.

Minerals occur deep underground, close to the surface, and even in the sea floor. Each situation calls for a different mining method. We'll need new methods when we try to mine the minerals in asteroids!
