Skunk

Skunks are mammals of the Americas, with black and white fur displaying a variety of patterns. These cat-sized omnivores deter predators with threatening displays and their signature move: a targeted blast of a nasty, oily spray from glands near the tail.

Until recently, skunks were classified with badgers, weasels, and otters in the family Mustelidae. But DNA testing revealed they belong in a family of their own: Mephitidae.
