Kids are growing curious by the day. Some of them are inquisitive to learn how electronics work. You can introduce them to STEM activities. This stands for Science Technology Engineering Mathematics.

There is a variety that kids can interact with to learn about electronics. Some of them have been safely designed. They protect them from electric shocks or getting burnt. A good example is the Arduino and Elegoo boards.

Sensors and actuators are becoming even more essential tools in our day to day living. It becomes very important to understand how they work.

Both Arduino and Elegoo boards play an important role in this. Both of these microcontrollers provide a platform to learn embedded electronics.

They are very important, especially to students. This is because of their ease in understanding. Both Arduino Uno and Elegoo Uno are competing hardware. We’ll take a deeper look at both of them.

Arduino uno vs Elegoo uno and some of the projects you can do include:

  • Build a tiny weather display system.
  • Build a motion-triggered night lamp system for use under your bed
  • Build a self muting phrase on tv. It checks on vulgar language and mutes it on tv.
  • Build an Ambilight sensor for your LED.
  • You can also build a personalized alarm system.
  • Build a gesture control with Arduino.
  • Build a smoke detection system.
  • You can build an autonomous cooler that follows you wherever you go.
  • Build a Kaleidoscope mirror.
  • Build a quadrupled motor. It can consist of one or several motors.
  • Build a clone of the popular floppy bird game.
  • Build a robot car or even a robot arm.
  • You can also build a fully functional control panel.
  • Build a fingerprint scanner to the entry of your garage.

Arduino

This is an open-source hardware and software company. It’s based on simple input/output board protocols. With Arduino, you can create programs that can interact with the world.

It is an important tool for building tiny computers. It has 3 main components. The board, external hardware, and its IDE. These components enable you to build almost anything.

It was founded as a research company. The aim was to take students who didn’t have experience in microcontrollers or electronics and let them learn the easy way.

Arduino is instrumental in learning programming and electronics. Its hardware, software, and firmware are trusted. Arduino Uno is one of the most popular boards of Arduino.

Arduino also offers a chance to get into coding. They make integrated drive electronics, making them available for also other companies to use.

Features of Arduino board

  • It is an easy USB interface. This allows interface with USB as this is like a serial device.
  • Has a 16MHz clock which is quite fast.
  • Has an inbuilt voltage regulator.

Arduino Uno

It is one of the most popular of the Arduino family. It is broadly used and uses the ATMega328p chip. Arduino Uno can detect the surroundings from the input.

The inputs are sensors. These sensors detect change and control motors, lights, and other actuators.

It is a great tool to get started with coding. It’s also well documented and has a variety of tutorials online. It is very convenient for beginners.

  1. Arduino Uno SMD Rev3 [A000073] – $28.00
  2. Arduino Uno Wifi Rev – $39.96
  3. Arduino Uno R3 [A000066] $23.00

Elegoo

Elegoo is also an open-source company. It sells branded Arduino kits. It is one of the companies that capitalized on the growing popularity of Arduino. It benefited from Arduino making their products open-source.

Most products produced by Elegoo are similar to Arduino. A good example is Elegoo Uno. They also specialize in selling electronic kits and component bundles.

Elegoo products achieve the same functionality as Arduino products. They’re at times referred to as clone products. They are the closest competitors to Arduino.

Features of Elegoo board

  • The microcontroller has a microchip
  • 8 Analog outputs
  • Has 14 digital input and output pins
  • Board has the Elegoo Uno R3
  • Operates at a voltage of 5
  • 6 pulse with modulation outputs
  • Equipped with flash memory with 32-kilobyte storage

Ease of Use of Arduino uno vs Elegoo uno

These companies provide the platform for which students can expand and develop. This may be even beyond their means. When deciding between these two, understand that the projects, materials, and designs will be very similar. The name “clone” companies arises from this fact.

Arduino and Elegoo excel from Atwell. They both source their microcontrollers from here. This means that the microcontrollers would behave the same. This explains the similarity in their functionality. They are from the same source company.

Despite this, there are a few Arduino starter kits that do not source from Atwell. To add to that, both companies do not make of the parts that are sold or include in their starter kits.

They get most components from the same company. The quality of these components are very much similar. Both of them are effective in teaching the basics.
